Here are updated profiles on the current members:

Tim McIlrath (lead vocals, rhythm guitar)- Tim was born in Chicago and was very interested in reading as a boy. As a teenager, his first big purchase was a guitar, which he chose over a snowboard. In college, he majored in English but took a break junior year to form Rise Against. He is now married with two kids and still lives in Chicago.

Joe Principe (bass guitar, backing vocals)- Joe began playing music at age 15 and learned to play the bass by ear. He started out in a punk band called 88 Fingers Louie and played with them for six years until forming Rise Against with Tim. His favorite food is pizza and is known for eating it every day, and the word is even tattooed on his body.

Zach Blair (lead guitar, backing vocals)- Zach was born in Sherman, Texas and has been playing guitar since he was young. He joined Rise Against in 2007, having played with four other bands before them. Rise Against had three lead guitarists prior to Zach. He, like the rest of the band, is an animal rights activist and lives the “straight edge” lifestyle.

Brandon Barnes (drums)- Brandon is from Denver, Colorado and is the oldest member in the band. He went to college at the University of Colorado and played drums in the music program there. He always knew he wanted to make music his career. He developed his own playing style after ten years with different bands and still lives in Colorado with his wife and kids.
